La Casa had the awesome privilege of watching two of our young ladies walk across the stage as they received their high school diplomas this past Saturday. Wow, in a country where, for most girls, the only “graduation” is from kindergarten, this was quite an achievement. Both Silvia and Estrella have risen above!

Silvia, who has lived at La Casa since she was seven, has always been a very studious person. She loves to read and is very responsible; yet, she has an “artsy” side to her that brings out creativity and her kind heart. This past Saturday, she not only received her high school diploma, but placed second in her class and had the highest graduation test score and thesis grade. Her dedication to her studies is also evident in the fact that she has already begun an introductory course at the Evangelical Univeristy even before her graduation. She will begin her studies to be an elementary school teacher in January.

Estrella came to La Casa when she was ten years old. She was behind in her studies but hasn’t let that stop her. This year has been a particularly difficult year for her family, but she persevered and finished well. She has a very grateful heart and had tears in her eyes as she spoke to the other girls on Saturday who live at La Casa and have grown up as “sisters”. For several years now, Estella has won an award for the best conduct in her class. She has been an example to her peers. She is wanting to be an event planner and has been offerd an internship at a local hotel this month and hopes to continue her studies in the near future.

We are so very proud of both young ladies. Their future is full of hope.

Dos bachilleres muy especiales

La Casa ha tenido el hermoso privilegio de presenciar el sábado pasado como dos de nuestras chicas recibieron su Diploma de Graduación. Esto es sorprendente en un país en el que la mayoría de las niñas solo se gradúan de kindergarten, es un gran logro. Silvia y Estrella lo lograron!

Silvia ha vivido en La Casa desde que tenía siete años, siempre ha sido una persona muy estudiosa. Ama la lectura y es muy responsable; tiene un lado artístico de su personalidad que muestra su creatividad y amabilidad. Este sábado Silvia no solo recibió su Diploma de Bachiller sino el segundo lugar en su grado, el mayor puntaje en las pruebas de graduación y la mejor nota en la Tesis de Graduación. Su dedicación a los estudios es también evidente en el hecho de que ya esta asistiendo a un curso introductorio en la universidad Evangélica aún antes de su graduación. Comenzará sus estudios de Educación Parvularia en Enero.

Estrella llegó a la casa cuando tenía diez años. Tuvo dificultades en los estudios pero eso no la detuvo para seguir esforzándose. Este ha sido un año duro para ella y su familia. Estrella está agradecida y sus ojos se llenaron de lágrimas cuando lo compartió con las niñas de La Casa y que han crecido siendo sus ¨hermanitas¨. Estrella recibió el premio por tener la mejor conducta en su grado. Ha sido un ejemplo para sus compañeros. Su deseo es Coordinadora de Eventos y estará realizando unas pasantías en un hotel local este mes antes de comenzar sus estudios.

Estamos muy orgullosos de estas dos chicas. Su futuro esta lleno de esperanza.
