 While Gaby was giving language therapy to one of our children, she asked if any other children needed help in the area of speech.  She wanted to donate her time if needed. Sandra, mother of the boys home, was quick to recommend that she could work with Emanuel.

 “Language develops in the first three years of life and that is Emanuel’s age. He should be able to pronounce most sounds by now except for pronouncing the letter sounds  “L” and “R” because those do not develop until the age of four.”

 “When I started working with Emanuel, I saw that he was having difficulty communicating. I tried to encourage him with games using words from his environment like shoes, children, mother, etc. I also asked questions like, “Where is your Tia?”  I taught him to use the word “I” and introduced phrases like: “I want to eat,” comments Gaby.

Emanuel has made good progress in his speech. Now he can say short phrases, answer simple questions, and you can understand him better when he speaks.

 Thanks to people like Gaby that share their time and expertise, our children are able to reach their full potential. It will be easier for Emanuel to learn in school and interact with the other children in his class. He will also blossom even more at La Casa thanks to these therapy sessions.  What a blessing!

Mientras Gaby daba terapias de lenguaje a uno de nuestros chicos, preguntó si había algún otro niño que necesitara ayuda en el área de lenguaje ya que ella quería donar estas terapias. Sandra, madre de la casa de varones, ya había identificado este problema y rápidamente le recomendó que trabajara con Emanuel.

“El lenguaje se desarrolla en los primeros tres años y esa es la edad que tiene Emanuel. Él tendría que tener completo el lenguaje aunque tuviera problemas con pronunciar la letra “L” y “R”, lo cual se desarrolla hasta los 4 años.

Cuando comencé a trabajar con el niño, noté que no se expresaba; traté de estimularle con juegos, con palabras que estaban en su ambiente como zapatos, niños, mamá, etc. Con preguntas como ¿A dónde está su tía? Y también le ha ayudado a usar la palabra ‘Yo’ para que se identifique a sí mismo, diciendo por ejemplo: ‘Yo quiero comer’.” Nos comenta Gaby.

El avance que ha tenido Emanuel ha sido muy bueno, ahora ya puede formar frases, conversa un poco más y se le puede entender más cuando habla.

Gracias a personas como Gaby, que comparten su tiempo y conocimientos, es que nuestros niños pueden desarrollar su potencial. Para Emanuel será más fácil aprender en el colegio, tendrá mejores posibilidades de relacionarse con otros niños y se desarrollará mejor dentro de La Casa gracias a estas terapias. ¡Qué bendición!
