Times are changing. When is the last time you heard that phrase? It seems like we are hearing those words frequently as we have been taking in new children in our homes over the past several weeks. Little ones with very different personalities, very different backgrounds, different reasons for needing a safe place for this season in their lives. Oh, and the blending into new family. Yeah, changes are occurring.
We have been so grateful for your prayers and encouragement. Some have asked how they can help, so we thought we’d share with you ways you can be part of supporting our growing family now.
First and most importantly, keep praying. Pray for the children as they adjust and adapt. Pray for our houseparents to have wisdom on how to best support and love each child during this season, both the new children and those who have lived in our homes for a while. Pray for our social workers and psychologist as they work with both the children and their biological families. Pray for real healing that can set these children and their families on a very different course of healthy relationships.
Second, you may want to help give to our operations costs for new intakes. Most often, a child comes to us with only the clothes on their back. That means they are need of clothing, shoes, personal care items, sheets and a pillow. There’s costs associated with taking them for medical, dental and nutritional evaluations. Third, you could help sponsor a child for their time with us. We have a sponsorship program where we can help match you to a child and you can begin to sponsor an area of their care on a monthly basis. Areas include health, education, food, housing, Christian counseling, transportation, recreation and family program where we work directly with the child’s biological family. Los tiempos están cambiando. ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que escuchaste esa frase? Parece que estamos escuchando esas palabras con frecuencia ya que hemos estado recibiendo nuevos niños en nuestros hogares durante las últimas semanas. Pequeños con personalidades muy diferentes, antecedentes muy diferentes, diferentes razones para necesitar un lugar seguro para esta temporada en sus vidas. Además, la integración en una nueva familia. Sí, están ocurriendo cambios.
Hemos estado muy agradecidos por sus oraciones y apoyo. Algunos han preguntado cómo pueden ayudar, así que pensamos en compartir con ustedes las maneras en que pueden ser parte del apoyo a nuestra familia en crecimiento.
Primero y más importante, orando. Ora por los niños a medida que se ajustan y se adaptan. Ora para que nuestros padres tengan sabiduría sobre cómo apoyar y amar mejor a cada niño durante esta temporada, tanto a los nuevos niños como a aquellos que han vivido en nuestros hogares por un tiempo. Ora por nuestros trabajadores sociales y psicólogos mientras trabajan con los niños y sus familias biológicas. Oremos por una sanación real que pueda poner a estos niños y a sus familias en un curso muy diferente de relaciones saludables.
En segundo lugar, tal vez quieras ayudar a cubrir parte de los costos de nuestras operaciones para nuevos ingresos. La mayoría de las veces, un niño viene a nosotros con sólo la ropita que trae puesta. Eso significa que necesitan ropa, zapatos, artículos de cuidado personal, sábanas y una almohada. Hay otros gastos como llevarlos a las evaluaciones médicas, dentales y nutricionales. También necesitamos fondos para llevarlos a un colegio que satisfaga sus necesidades educativas. Tercero, podrías ayudar a patrocinar a un niño durante su tiempo con nosotros. Tenemos un Programa de Patrocinios en el que podemos apoyarte para identificarte con un niño y comenzar a apoyar económicamente un área de su cuidado mensualmente. Las áreas incluyen salud, educación, comida, vivienda, consejería cristiana, transporte, recreación y programa familiar donde trabajamos directamente con la familia biológica del niño.
