A big part of our work with children is connecting our children back with family and building healthier relationships. Thus, every
other Saturday, La Casa hosts a family day for our families to visit. Parenting classes, counseling sessions, sitting and catching up with family members, cousins often running and playing together, and sharing a meal together are a part of each of these visits. This past Saturday, we were able to partner with a local team of doctors and dentists to provide another type of support, a medical clinic for family members. These doctors and dentists not 
only shared their medical expertise, but their time on what would have been a day off, their encouraging words, and smiles. Our children were excited about this day as well and enjoyed helping set everything up to show their family members that they are important to us. Medical care is very limited for most of our families, so this service was much needed and appreciated.
Each family member was able to have one-on-one time with either a doctor, dentist, or even both. Many health questions were answered and advise offered, along with medicines if needed. Many were able to have their teeth cleaned or fillings put in. It is amazing how quick we are to forget what having health care available means to
us.
We concluded the time together by all sharing a large pot of delicious bean soup. Our family members helped to set up, serve, and clean up afterwards. It wasn’t just another visitation day, but another day to live out what being a big family is all about.

Gran parte de nuestro trabajo con los
chicos es fortalecer su relación con sus familias y construir relaciones saludables. Es por esto que, cada sábado en La Casa organizamos un día de visita. Escuelas para padres, sesiones de consejería, tiempo con los miembros de la familia, primos corriendo y jugando juntos, compartir el almuerzo es parte de cada Día de Visita.
El sábado pasado, un grupo de doctores y odontólogos vinieron a trabajar con nosotros, ofreciendo sus conocimientos y apoyo a las familias. 
Médicos y odontólogos no solo dedicaron sus conocimientos , sino su tiempo, su día libre, una palabra de aliento, una sonrisa. Los chicos estaban felices viendo que, al igual que ellos, sus familias son importantes para nosotros y nos interesa su bienestar. La atención médica es un aspecto muy limitado para la mayoría de nuestras familias, por eso lo valoraron tanto.
Cada uno tuvo la oportunidad de pasar a consulta con el medico, el odontólogo o ambos. Se atendieron muchas inquietudes , se
dio consejo y medicinas de ser necesario. Muchos recibieron limpieza dental o rellenos. Es sorprendente que rápido olvidamos el significado de estar saludables.
La jornada terminó con una deliciosa sopa de frijoles. Los familiares ayudaron a organizar todo, servir y limpiar después. No fue solamente una visita familiar, fue una Hermosa oportunidad para compartir un día todos juntos como familia.
