In 2006, La Casa was able to purchase 28 acres of land in Santo Tomas, just 20 minutes from our current home.  Our dream has been to build homes on this land and move the children into homes where they would live in small family groups with house parents on a full-time basis.  This past year, generous donors began to make this dream a reality.  Currently, we are in the process of obtaining permits to begin building our first two homes!

This past week, a Global X youth team from North Point Community Church in Atlanta, began to clean out and paint a home on the property to serve as two bedrooms and a kitchen for workers during the construction process and to later serve as offices for our staff.  (For those of you have visited before, you’ll recognize the beautiful view of the lake from the top knoll on our property where the tree house is located and be able to visualize exactly where this home is located.)  This team also helped to begin construction on walls around the patio area of this home to add on two additional offices.  The team moved sand and gravel from one end of the farm where it had been dropped off to the other.  They mixed concrete, poured the foundation, and helped to lay the first rows of brick.

This team’s energy and eager hearts to serve were an inspiration to La Casa, our children and staff.  They connected with our children as they played and shared devotions throughout the week.  Thank you Global X for dreaming with us and helping us begin the first steps in the construction process in moving out to the farm!

¡Los Primeros Pasos!

En el 2006, La Casa tuvo la oportunidad de adquirir 28 hectáreas de terreno en Santo Tomás, a tan solo 20 minutos de nuestras instalaciones actuales. Nuestro sueño ha sido construir casas en este terreno y trasladar a los chicos a vivir ahí, ellos vivirán con un modelo de familia, con padres de hogar a tiempo completo. El año pasado, gracias a generosos donantes comenzamos a hacer este sueño realidad. Actualmente, estamos en el proceso de obtener permisos para comenzar a construir nuestras dos primeras casas.

La semana pasada, Global X un grupo de jóvenes de North Point Community Church de Atlanta, iniciaron la tarea de limpiar y pintar una casa en La Finca, la cual tiene dos cuartos y una cocina, servirá para los trabajadores que estarán a cargo de la construcción de las casas y más adelante funcionarán como oficinas para nuestro staff. Para los que ya han visitado La Finca, nos referimos a la casa que está ubicada en la parte alta, a donde hay una bella vista del lago y una casa del árbol. Este grupo también nos ayudó a construir  paredes en el patio, para poder añadir dos oficinas más. El equipo traslado arena y grava de un extremo de la finca hacia a otro, mezclaron concreto, lo que sirvió de base para colocar las primeras filas de ladrillos.

La energía y el corazón servicial  del grupo fueron de inspiración para La Casa, nuestros niños y staff.  Durante esa semana, mientras los chicos y el grupo compartían juegos y devocionales, surgió una conexión muy especial entre ellos. Gracias Global X  por soñar junto a nosotros, por ayudarnos con los primeros pasos en el proceso de construcción para hacer posible nuestro traslado a La Finca.
