Dear Ministry Partners and Friends,
Happy New Year!
I would imagine if you are like most people, you have thought of some ways that you would like for this year to be different. Beginning a new year is like having a blank canvas in front of you with a world of possibilities at hand. Many of us dream of what it would take to have the best year ever. We at La Casa are no different and have pondered our plans for 2018. It is good to have vision and dreams, but we must remember:
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9 ESV
I want to share our plans for this year with you, but realizing that indeed it is God who will ultimately determine where we go, what we do and when we do so.
New transition home: Just this past week, we moved the young ladies at “The Bridge” (our transition program) into a new rented home very close to where they were living. The girls were excited and one even remarked that she “felt like a princess” as we moved in. The fact that they no longer have the young men as their “next door neighbors” means that they will be stretched to grow more independent and prepared for what lies ahead. We are grateful for those of you that made this possible and ask that you would now support them with your prayers.
New children and families: Last year we had two of our young men move into “The Bridge” and in December another of our boys left to live in the U.S. with his new “forever family”. So space is now open for us to begin taking in new children. It has been several years since we have had new families to work with, so although we are excited, we also realize it will require a great deal of prayer and effort to begin the process of healing and restoration. We are growing; not only in numbers, but also in learning how to better serve those we have given.
New construction: We hope to begin construction on a third home early this year. Although we do not have an exact date to break ground, we have been working on finalizing the details with the donor to do so. This opportunity means we will need partners to furnish the home, to purchase vehicles (a van and a pickup) and to provide for the operating expenses for the family and children that will live in the home. We promise to keep you updated, as we get closer to the start date.
Thank you for allowing us to share our plans for 2018 with you and we pray that you may consider sharing in this journey with us. It looks to be an adventurous one.

Feliz Año Nuevo!
Me imagino que si eres como la mayoría de las personas, has pensado en algunas maneras que te gustaría que este año fuera diferente. Empezar un nuevo año es como tener un lienzo en blanco delante de ti con un mundo de posibilidades a la mano. Muchos de nosotros soñamos con lo que nos haría tener el mejor año de la historia. Nosotros en La Casa no somos diferentes y hemos meditado en nuestros planes para el 2018. Es bueno tener visión y sueños, pero debemos recordar:
El corazón del hombre piensa su camino; mas Jehová endereza sus pasos. Proverbios 16:9 NVI
Quiero compartir nuestros planes para este año con ustedes, pero dándome cuenta de que en verdad es Dios quien finalmente determinará a dónde vamos, qué hacemos y cuándo lo hacemos.
Nueva Casa de Transición: Justo esta semana pasada, ayudamos a las jóvenes que son parte de nuestro programa “The Bridge” (nuestro programa de transición) a que se mudaran a una nueva casa alquilada muy cerca de donde vivían. Las chicas estaban emocionadas y una incluso una de ellas comentó que “se sentía como una princesa” cuando nos mudamos. El hecho de que ya no tengan a los jóvenes como “vecinos” significa que tendrán mas espacio para ser más independientes y prepararse para lo que les espera en el futuro. Estamos agradecidos por aquellos de ustedes que hicieron esto posible y les pedimos que ahora los apoyen con sus oraciones.
Nuevos chicos y familias: El año pasado, dos de nuestros jóvenes se mudaron a “The Bridge” y en Diciembre otro de nuestros niños se fue a vivir a los Estados Unidos con su nueva “familia para siempre”. Así que ahora tenemos espacio para acoger nuevos niños. Han pasado varios años desde que hemos tenido nuevas familias con las que trabajar, así que aunque estamos emocionados, también nos damos cuenta de que requerirá mucha oración y esfuerzo para comenzar el proceso de sanación y restauración. Estamos creciendo; no sólo en número, sino también aprendiendo a servir mejor a quienes que se nos han otorgado.
Nueva construcción: Esperamos comenzar la construcción de una tercera casa a principios de este año. Aunque no tenemos una fecha exacta para comenzar, hemos estado trabajando en finalizar los detalles con el donante para hacerlo. Esta oportunidad significa que necesitaremos socios para amueblar la casa, comprar vehículos (un microbus y un pick up) y cubrir los gastos de funcionamiento para la familia y los niños que vivirán en la casa. Nos comprometemos a mantenerlos informados, a medida que nos acerquemos a la fecha de inicio.
Gracias por permitirnos compartir nuestros planes para el 2018 con ustedes y les pedimos que consideren compartir este viaje con nosotros. Parece ser una aventura.
