Una de las áreas mas importantes del trabajo de La Casa es la consejería. Sabemos que un pasado difícil puede influir y hacer la vida dura aun para los más fuertes. Este pasado se arraiga profundamente en el corazón, trayendo desconfianza, ira y creando muros que aseguren una distancia para no tener que confiar de nuevo. Incluso cuando piensas que has traído las cosas a la luz, has madurado , has tenido que comprender a un nivel más profundo y aun tienes que volver a procesar lo que parece ser un ciclo sin fin de emociones; puede ser abrumador y agotador para el alma y el cuerpo.
Nuestros padres de hogar, tíos y tías modelan el amor cada día. Ellos
escuchan las inquietudes del corazón de nuestros chicos cuando necesitan simplemente desahogarse, expresarse, pero a veces es necesario profundizar más en las emociones detrás de la conducta externa. Nuestro equipo de Consejería se esfuerza por hacer precisamente eso. Es un trabajo duro, agotador a veces. Nuestra intención ha sido ampliar nuestro equipo de consejería. A finales del año pasado, Tiffany Lewis comenzó a darnos más de 20 horas a la semana de su tiempo, brindándonos su ayuda mientras ella obtiene las horas necesarias para su certificación LPC en los Estados Unidos como consejera matrimonial y familiar. Ella ha traído nuevas ideas y ha trabajado en estrecha colaboración con nuestra consejera y nuestra trabajadora social. A principios de este mes Karla Navarrete se unió como nuestra segunda consejera a tiempo completo gracias a los fondos dados por una iglesia que nos apoya. Ella es una 
salvadoreña que acaba de regresar del campo misionero en Senegal, África, donde se encontraba trabajando en un hogar de niños.
Nuestro equipo de consejería está en expansión y estamos muy contentos de tener la oportunidad de impactar las vidas de los niños que servimos y sus familias aún más. Únase a nosotros en gratitud a Dios por este nuevo crecimiento y por la cantidad de oportunidades que tenemos por delante… sanando los corazones para que nuestros chicos y las familias puedan tener esperanza en un futuro transformado, rompiendo el ciclo.
Buiding a Team!
A very integral part of the work at La Casa is Christian counseling. Difficult pasts can linger on and haunt even the toughest of us. They sink deep into the crevices of the heart, spewing distrust, anger, and other emotions that provide a safe distance from having to trust again. Even when you think you’ve brought things into the light, you mature, understand at a deeper and broader level, and have to sometimes reprocess what seems to be a never ending enclosing of emotions; it can be just plain overwhelming and exhausting on the soul and body.
Our houseparents, tios and tias model love on a daily basis. They listen
to the heart of our children when they need to just vent, talk it out; but sometimes there is a need to dive deeper into the intense emotion behind the outward behavior. Our counseling team strives to do just that. It is hard work, grueling at times. Our wish has been to be able to expand our counseling team. Late last fall, Tiffany Lewis began to give us over 20 hours a week of her time, helping us as she gains hours needed towards her LPC certification in the U.S. as a marriage and family counselor. She has brought along new ideas and has worked closely with both our counselor and social worker. And then again early this month, we were able to bring on Karla Navarette as our second full time counselor with money given by a partner church. She is a native 
Salvadoran who just recently returned from the mission field in Senegal, Africa, working in a children’s home there.
Our counseling team is expanding and we are excited to have the opportunity to impact the lives of the children we serve and their families even more.
