This past Saturday, La Casa’s staff and children celebrated Christmas with our families at the “finca”. We were able to enjoy a show provided by Salud, a local diary company, listen to a message presented by one of our house dads, listen as our children sang Christmas carols, eat panes con pavo (a traditional turkey sandwich eaten this time of the year), and give a food basket to each of our children’s families who visit throughout the year. For those of you who got to be a part of connecting Juan with his Juan’s uncle this year, you’ll enjoy seeing their picture as they receive their food basket.
In the afternoon, our staff and children helped give the children (and adults who wanted to watch) in the two communities surrounding the “finca” a Christmas party. A special group called “Niños Diferentes” entertained the children as they shared the message of Christ. We then played games, were entertained by a clown, enjoyed donuts, and gave out a small gift to each child who came.
Christmas isn’t always filled with all of the mountains of gifts and abundance of food for families here in El Salvador. For those in the countryside, a simple cup of hot chocolate with family may be the special time they share. Thanks to My Father’s House International who donated the funds to be able to share the message of the best present of all, our Lord and Savior’s birth. Enjoy the precious smiles you gave!
How wonderful! Thanks for sharing the pictures with us and His love with the community around La Finca.
This is so great, and we do not realize how significant it is for the people in the neighborhood. I remember a Salvoran colleague sponsoring a Christmas party for the poor people in her neighborhood, and at the end a little girl said to her, “Thank you for these moments of happiness.” It only takes a little to make a difference.
