Last week a special day we all call Valentine’s Day was celebrated. Our girls came up with the idea that they wanted to draw names and have “secret friends”. They wanted to be able to get a small gift for whoever’s name they drew and share them on Friday evening. They decided that each needed one dollar. This meant that they needed to get creative and figure out how to earn the money they needed. It wasn’t long before they were asking everyone if they had anything that they could do for them. They did extra chores around the house and for others. They even washed and cleaned Kelly’s car, our team coordinator. We are sure that if you were here, you would have been asked too! The whole house got involved, from the girl’s to tias to house parents and their girls. By earning the money and recycling gift bags from past holidays, they were able to share a night of encouraging one another. They focused on looking out for someone else; and best of all, they learned what a team spirit can accomplish!

Celebrando el Día de la Amistad

La semana pasada se celebró el Día de San Valentin.  Las chicas de La Casa tuvieron una idea estupenda de jugar ¨Amigo Secreto¨. El juego consiste en escribir los nombres de cada una en un trozo de papel, mezclarlos y escoger uno quien será su Amigo Secreto. La idea fue compartir un regalo con esta persona en la noche del viernes.  Acordaron fijar el precio del regalo en un dólar para lo cual usaron su creatividad, preguntando si alguien necesitaba ayuda para poder colaborar. Hicieron trabajos extra para La Casa. Hasta lavaron el carro de Kelly nuestra Coordinadora de Grupos. Estamos seguros que si hubieras estado aquí también te hubieran ofrecido su ayuda! Todos en La Casa fueron partícipes, tías, chicas, hasta los Padres de Hogar. Trabajando, reciclando bolsas de regalo de la navidad, usando la creatividad, las chicas lograron compartir una noche especial y expresar su cariño. No se enfocaron en si mismas sino en buscar algo especial para alguien más y lo mejor de todo, aprendieron que en equipo pueden lograrlo!!!
