Back to school days have begun at La Casa. 27 children and young adults will be heading back into a classroom within the next week, from kindergarten to university. That makes for some preparation!
Actually, preparation began last year, mid summer. A special friend of La Casa asked for the school supply list in July. She has collected school supplies for our children for quite a few years now. At the end of October, she flew down to deliver the supplies she had collected along
with her son and mother. Thank you Phyllis Rouse for your heart for our ministry and the children over the long haul!
Those supplies were tucked away as we wrapped up the end of the school year for 2013. 
However, as 2014 rolled in, it was time pull those supplies out, check our lists, make an inventory, and head downtown to find the rest of the supplies needed. School books had to be purchased, trips to the shoe store, trips downtown again for uniform pants, girls measured for their uniforms, the list keeps going. Everyone around La Casa has been buzzing around like bees!
But, this weekend, a group from NorthPoint Community Church in Atlanta arrived…to help cover all of the notebooks and books in colored paper and plastic, required by the school and help to make the covers last for a whole year through the tropical climate. Each child has a tall stack, so this is quite the job! They also collected backpacks for our children so they can carry all of their newly covered books, notebooks, and supplies. De Regreso a Clases
Los días de regreso a clases han comenzado en La Casa. 27 chicos y jóvenes adultos estarán de regreso en sus aulas la próxima semana, desde Kinder hasta la Universidad. Y esto requiere de algo de preparación!
Realmente comenzamos a prepararnos desde mediados del verano del año pasado. Una amiga
especial de La Casa nos pidió una lista en el mes de Julio de los útiles que necesitaríamos. Al final de Octubre viajó desde los Estados Unidos junto con su hijo y su madre para traer los útiles que había conseguido para los chicos. Gracias Phyllis Rouse por tu amor con nuestro ministerio y con los chicos!
Guardamos estos útiles mientras terminaba el 2013. Sin embargo, comenzando el 2014, ya era hora de sacarlos, buscar en nuestras listas, hacer un inventario y lo más importante, encontrar 
el resto de los materiales necesarios. Libros escolares tuvieron que ser comprados, visitas a la tienda de zapatos, buscar pantalones de uniforme, chicas midiéndose sus uniformes, la lista sigue subiendo. Todo el mundo alrededor de La Casa ha estado revoloteando alrededor como abejas!
Pero, este fin de semana, un grupo de NorthPoint Community Church de Atlanta llegó … para ayudar a forrar todos los cuadernos y libros con papel y plástico de colores, tal como se pide en los colegios para ayudar a que las cubiertas duren todo el año en este clima tropical. Cada niño tiene una pila de cuadernos, por lo que es bastante el trabajo! También trajeron mochilas para nuestros chicos para que puedan llevar todos sus libros recién forrados, cuadernos y materiales.
