In 2010, a doctor who helps to lead medical mission teams to El Salvador, Dr. Ed, brought family and friends to build a treehouse on our farm in Santo Tomas. It was built in honor of his son, Jon, who visited and played with many of the children at La Casa. That tree house wrapped around a giant Fire Tree that had an impressive view of Lake Ilopango. Our kids really enjoyed climbing up onto the platform via the ladder or climbing wall, watching all of the activity below, and feeling high above the world. They would swing and swing on the tire swing that hung from one of the long branches as if they had not one care in the world. As a matter of fact, so did everyone who visited the land.
During the fall of 2013, we found that tree lying on its side after a night of strong winds. The roots had rotted, but no one knew. No one knew until the trunk just laid itself to rest on its side, taking with it the treehouse that had been enjoyed for years.
Last week, a group of five men, many who had built the first treehouse, came and labored all week to rebuild it in a new location, right above the pavillion area and behind the newly renovated home. This location is right where the activity will be once we move to the land. Wood had been saved from the first treehouse and what could be reused was used again. The climbing wall was rebuilt too. Now, there are new amazing views to look out onto.
The children can’t wait for their next visit out to the farm to see the new treehouse and once again climb up into it and see around the farm. Thanks to Ed, Ben, Matt, Sean and Arion for your labor of love this week! This treehouse has plenty of stories to tell!
En 2010, un médico que dirige grupos de Misiones Médicas a El Salvador, el Dr. Ed, invitó a amigos y familiares para construir una casa del árbol en nuestra finca en Santo Tomas. Fue construido en honor a su hijo Jon, que nos visitó y pasó momentos hermosos con muchos de los niños de La Casa. Esa casa del árbol rodeaba un árbol de fuego gigante que tenía una vista impresionante del lago de Ilopango. Nuestros chicos disfrutaban realmente subir por la escalera o la rampa, viendo toda la actividad abajo, y sentirse por encima del mundo. Giraban y giraban al vaivén de los neumáticos que colgaba de una de las ramas largas como si no tuvieran ni una sola preocupación en el mundo. Era algo que amaban hacer todos los que visitaron alguna vez La Finca.
Durante el otoño de 2013, el árbol cayó de lado repentinamente después de una noche de fuertes vientos. Las raíces se habían podrido, pero nadie sabía. Nadie sabía hasta que el tronco cayó por sí solo, llevándose con él la casa del árbol que se había disfrutado durante años.
La semana pasada, un grupo de cinco hombres, muchos de los que habían construido la primera casa del árbol, vino y trabajó toda la semana para reconstruirla en una nueva ubicación, justo sobre de la zona de pabellón y detrás de la casa recientemente renovada. Esta ubicación es justo donde la actividad se realizará una vez que nos mudemos a La Finca. Se había rescatado la madera de la primera casa del árbol con el propósito de reutilizarla y así se hizo. El muro de escalada fue reconstruido también. Ahora, hay nuevas vistas increíbles.
Los niños están ansiosos por su próxima visita a La Finca para ver la nueva casa del árbol y una vez más subir a él y ver alrededor de La Finca. Gracias a Ed, Ben, Matt, Sean y Arion por su obra de amor de esta semana! Esta casa del árbol tiene un montón de historias que contar!
