The Christmas spirit is alive at La Casa de mi Padre.  I love to hear the children singing Christmas carols as they walk around.  Several have brought home Christmas crafts that they made at school.  I can see joy on their faces and the desire to share and celebrate with others.    Some of our children will be sharing time with their families while others will be sharing time with our staff’s families.

Daniela  is constantly saying, “The best gift I will receive this Christmas is to spend it by my mother’s side.  I finally got to meet her last year and have never spent Christmas with her.”

Estrella tells me, “The best gift I could receive for Christmas would be to meet my three siblings because I only know one of them.  I would love to spend Christmas with them like a normal family.”

“ I use to spend Christmas without any of my family members because my brother and sister were not at La Casa.  Now, we spend it together and it feels more like a family.  This Christmas, we are going to be with our aunt,” says Jose.

By talking with these boys and girls, I have come to realize that the time we spend with our families is a special gift.  We forget the value that it has to have our parents, siblings, and other family close.  This is a privilege that not everyone can enjoy, and I want to encourage you to thank God for this blessing.

This Christmas, may our happiness not depend on how much we spend, how many gifts we are to receive, or how many things we can give; but let us give our time, hugs, and attention to our families.  Let us appreciate this beautiful gift God has given us.

Un Regalo Valioso

Manualidad hecha por Juancito

Me encanta escuchar a nuestros niños cantando villancicos mientras caminan en los pasillos de La Casa. ¡Se puede sentir el espíritu navideño! Varios de ellos han traído manualidades de navidad que han trabajado en la escuela. Puedo ver en sus rostros la alegría y la ilusión de celebrar y compartir con  otros.  Algunos de ellos estarán compartiendo este tiempo con sus familiares mientras otros pasarán la navidad con las familias de nuestro staff.

A cada momento Daniela nos dice: “Mi mejor regalo en esta navidad es que podré disfrutarlo al lado de mi mamá. A ella la conocí  el año pasado y nunca he compartido la navidad con ella”.

Estrella nos cuenta: “Mi mejor regalo en esta navidad sería poder conocer a mis tres hermanos, pues sólo conozco a uno de ellos. Me encantaría poder pasar una navidad en familia al lado de ellos, como una familia normal”

“Antes pasaba las navidades sin nadie de mi familia, pues mis hermanos no habían llegado a la fundación. Ahora pasamos los tres juntos, me siento más en familia y en esta navidad vamos a visitar una tía” dice José.

Al conversar con estos chicos y chicas, me doy cuenta que el tiempo que podemos pasar con nuestra familia es un regalo muy especial.  Muchas veces olvidamos el valor que representa tener nuestros padres, hijos y hermanos cerca. Este es un privilegio que no todas las personas pueden disfrutar, les animo a dar gracias a Dios por esta bendición.

Que esta navidad nuestra felicidad no dependa de lo mucho que podamos gastar, cuántos regalos vamos a recibir o cuántas cosas podemos dar. También podemos regalar nuestro tiempo, abrazos y atención a nuestra familia. Apreciemos este hermoso regalo que Dios nos ha dado.
