Twenty years ago, when God placed it upon our hearts to take care of the children He had placed in our path, we knew we needed to honor that calling. We didn’t begin with a big strategic plan or even know how funding would come for the next month, but out of obedience, we stepped out in faith.
It wasn’t long before we knew that the children needed parent role models and not just caregivers. That is when we approached Gerardo and Sandra about becoming our first houseparents. They said, “Yes,” and began the journey of loving on almost 50 children!
God has been so faithful. Now, we have a small group of children living in each of our three homes, each with a set of houseparents who serve as role models in the family. They do life together. God has taken our “Yes” and has provided and guided. It is always good to look back to see the journey God has had us on and be reminded of His faithfulness.
Listen as Sandra shares some of her memories and the impact their calling had on their family. We are thankful for the life of each person that God has woven into the ministry to be His instruments to care for His children. He creates beauty.
